The Washburn Cultural Center is located on US Hwy 13, seven miles north of US Hwy 2, equidistant between Duluth, MN and Ironwood, MI. Washburn is the County Seat of Bayfield County. Our historic 1890 brownstone bank building is listed on both the State and National Register of Historic Places.

 

We are open 10am to 4pm Monday thru Saturday May thru December and

11am to 3pm Monday thru Saturday January thru April.

 

Washburn Area Historical Society's Museum is open 10 to 4 June thru September.

 SPECIAL EVENT ON FEBRUARY 25, 2012:

Antique and collectible appraisal event with Mark Moran, who has collected and appraised antiques for over 20 years. Mark was a guest presenter on PBS' "Antiques Road Show" and has authored/co-authored some 20 books on antiques and collectibles. Call for an appointment, bring your heirloom and have it evaluated for a $15 fee. Proceeds benefit WCC's new sidewalk fund. Call for list of eligible and ineligible items, 715 373-5591.


 
 
Washburn Cultural Center has a unique and extensive Permanent Fine Art Collection on display year round.  Washburn Area Historical Society's Museum highlights our rich and colorful local heritage.  We host rotating gallery shows in various media (see Calendar of Events on "About Us" page). We are also a venue for classes, conferences, workshops, meetings, public and private parties, weddings, receptions, accomodating groups of any size up to 100. Call or email for rates and availability for your next event. Offered for sale in our new Ungrodt Gallery are original paintings, jewelry, fiber arts, antiques, collectibles in a wide range of prices.
