About Us
Mission, History, Calendar of Events
We are a center dedicated to fostering, presenting and preserving the cultural, artistic and historical life of Washburn and the surrounding Chequamegon Bay area. Membership is open to all who desire to participate in the preservation of our historic brownstone bank building and the culture of the area. We are a community resource, encouraging and promoting activities and events of regional interest.
Restoration of our facility was started in late 1991 and a grand opening celebration in the summer of 1993 marked our "official" beginning. We are listed on both the National and State Registers of Historic Places. 2007 marked another milestone when we replaced the original 117 year old roof with a new one that is historically and architecturally compatible.
In summer of 2008 we opened our own Ungrodt Gallery which showcases fine art, crafts, antiques and collectibles offered for sale. A sample of what we have to offer:

The Washburn Cultural Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm from May through December, plus Sunday 11am to 3pm in July and August. Monday - Saturday 11am to 3pm January through April.
The Washburn Area Historical Society Museum is open Monday through Saturday 10am to 4pm June through September.
